The fourth issue of It’s Freezing in LA! looks at a climate and ecosystem in flux. As a few examples of its content, writing reflects on the impact of new technologies, artists who engage environmental thinking in their work, and the complexity of green decision-making in political spaces, among a the diverse range of topics connected by climate change.
With climate events already spiralling across the world, Issue 4’s cover depicts Hurricane Dorian, a storm which wrought a path of destruction in the Bahamas near to the time that IFLA! 4 was planned. The green and purple graphics in this issue were generated using an online resource for tracking wind patterns. The central spread follows the eye of the storm and the devastation that it left behind, while also documenting the climate change denial of then president Donald Trump’s tweets in real time alongside the climate event.
