The eighth issue It’s Freezing in LA! explores the concept of borders in the climate movement. Writers in this issue look at a range of subject matter: Physical boundaries around spaces and resources, people displaced by extreme weather, and companies and states exerting their influence across legal perimeters. The issue’s hope is to establish new boundaries to further the goal of climate justice and regeneration.

The graphic theme shows the act of mapping the sea floor, called bathymetry. Understanding the sea floor is essential for building off shore infrastructure, laying pipelines, and digging for minerals, oil and gas. Pink and grey graphics map the boundaries between high and low quality data of the Earth’s seabed. The criss-crossing shapes seen in pink sections relate to pipelines that bring fossil fuels ashore.
