It’s Freezing in LA! #9: Health Creative direction, Editorial design
Issue 9 of It’s Freezing in LA! explores the links between climate and health. Writing explores the unhealthy relationships humans have with their systems, looking at toxic materials, fast-fashion, climate anxiety, and recycling.
The graphic theme of IFLA! 9 looks at pollution – from the micro to the macro scales, from a puff of a cigarette to the billowing smoke clouds from a power station. The images depict pollution formally as ‘plumes’, as though viewing pollution as sculptures. These images were colourised in poison green against a neutral blue background. The overhead perspective in these images draws inspiration from the educational film by Charles and Ray Eames, Powers of Ten.
