In Underground Urbanism, urban planner Elizabeth Reynolds writes to uncover the subterranian architectural developments of the world.

A collection of illustrations have been made to explain various features of underground environments in accompaniment with Reynolds’ writing. The drawings study nine cities from around the world, depicting forms and features above and below the surface paying attention to the details in the location’s architecture. This involved research into architectural plans, utilising Google Street View, satellite maps and found images.

Silhouettes of the world’s underground case studies are shown on the cover and throughout the book. Original architectural plans of these case studies were used to turn the physical spaces into icons.
